2017 - 2023 - Automation Scientist at AbCellera (Vancouver, BC)
As the first Automation Scientist at the company, I was responsible for planning and executing on the automation goals for the company. Next generation sequencing, nucleic acid purification, cell culture and expression, purification, and biophysical characterization capabilities were established using a combination of out-of-the-box liquid handlers as well as bespoke, integrated workcells.
2009 - 2016 - Ph.D in Genome Sciences and Technology, UBC
Using a combination of molecular biology, software development, and high throughput robotics, I built a pipeline able to screen up to 500,000 individual E. coli colonies per week, in the search for biomass degrading enzymes.
